wp-content/themes/knoll/

Knoll

A school theme built for the four things parents actually visit for, and nothing else on the front page.

== Description ==

Parents visit a school website for term dates, closures, the newsletter and a phone number. Knoll’s front page is those four, above the fold, on a phone — and the closure banner is prominent enough to be seen at seven in the morning in the snow.

Term dates are structured and generate an academic-year calendar, an ics feed and a “next holiday” line without anyone maintaining three copies.

Newsletters are posts with attachments, archived by year, searchable — rather than a folder of PDFs with names like newsletter-final-v2.pdf.

== Screenshots ==

Numbered the way they ship in /assets/. Click any one to see it full width.

== Installation ==

  • Install and activate the theme.
  • Enter your term dates for the year.
  • Set up the closure banner. It is empty and hidden until you use it.

The closure banner has an expiry so nobody has to remember to take it down.

== Frequently asked questions ==

Multi-academy trusts?

One site per school, or a multisite. A single site covering four schools produces four confusing calendars.

Staff logins?

Standard WordPress roles. A staff area is a plugin decision.
